Our Story

logo_webIn 2009, through the personal initiative and unwavering dedication of Baasandorj  Zanabazar Dharma Center was established in Sacramento, capital of California. The center is named after the late Undur Gegeen Zanabazar. Since its establishment, the Baasan has been continuously dedicated to helping people understand the benefits of the Buddha’s teachings. From attending the teachings and its many practice opportunities the Northern California Mongolian community, in particular Sacramento and the San Francisco Bay Area, receives benefits of both formal Buddhist philosophy and culturally relevant community building. In early 2015, Zanabazar Dharma Center was approved for a mortgage to purchase the land on Bradshaw Road—paving the way for the first permanent Mongolian Buddhist Temple in North America.
